Our Story
Alfredo Di Roma®, an Italian restaurant known for its authentic traditional cuisine, has shared with the world its extraordinary original recipe, which has been passed down through three generations of the Di Lelio family since 1908: the legendary Fettuccine Alfredo.
The story began when Alfredo Di Lelio (Alfredo I) worked in a small family restaurant in Piazza Rosa, Rome. That year, his wife Inés gave birth to their firstborn, Armando (Alfredo II). Worried about her recovery, Alfredo created a comforting dish made with pasta, butter, and fresh Parmesan cheese. Inés loved it so much that she suggested adding it to the menu, giving birth to a timeless classic.
In 1914, Alfredo Di Lelio opened his restaurant, “Alfredo,” on Via della Scrofa in Rome. Years later, alongside his son Armando, he inaugurated “Il Vero Alfredo” in Piazza Augusto Imperatore, where the family tradition continued—first under Armando’s leadership until 1982, and today under his grandchildren, Alfredo (Alfredo III) and Inés Di Lelio.
In 1996, Alfredo Di Roma®, an Italian food restaurant, arrived in Mexico City, inviting guests to discover a unique culinary experience with an exquisite selection of appetizers, soups, pasta, risottos, fish, meats, and desserts.
With over 20 years of experience in the national culinary scene, chef and sommelier Jorge Dumit leads the kitchen at Alfredo Di Roma with a concept that honors the traditions of Italian cuisine while embracing a deep appreciation for local ingredients. His background spans high-end hotels and restaurants, as well as his own ventures in the State of Mexico, showcasing both versatility and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Passionate about the richness of Mexican cuisine, Jorge has traveled across the country working alongside renowned chefs and local producers to revive native ingredients and ancestral techniques. His commitment to excellence has earned him roles as a judge in culinary competitions and as an advisor to academic initiatives. Under his leadership, Alfredo Di Roma stands out among Italian restaurants for its elegance, authenticity, and creativity in every dish.
Designed specifically for children, our activity program includes games, crafts, movies, and more for kids aged 3 to 12, always under the supervision of qualified staff. The safety and enjoyment of the little ones are our top priorities, which is why we also offer a children’s buffet inside ChiquiClub.
